"Sunderland is often a graveyard for young progressive puppies, usually at short odds, but I fancy Ballyridge Jack (6.04) can prove one for the punters on just his fifth outing."
Two backs and a lay from Darrell Williams today...
Officer Donagh rates one of the most consistent sprinters on the circuit, and while the Scurry runner-up hasn't won in his last five outings he has hardly been running poorly either as a runners-up spot behind new sprinting star Rotar Wing at Belle Vue last week testifies. The fact he has also won 2/3 at Hall Green, most recently when less than two lengths outside the clock in June, makes him the day's best bet in the 7.50 at Hall Green. Take [1.9] or bigger.
Sunderland is often a graveyard for young progressive puppies, usually at short odds, but I fancy Ballyridge Jack (6.04) can prove one for the punters on just his fifth outing. An emphatic winner in A6 the grader hasn't been too tough on him raising the March 2008 youngster just the obligatory one level. That may prove a shade too generous and at [2.75] or better I'd play.
Carry On Darragh (7.43 Sheffield) has been doing little wrong of late, other than not winning, but he has simply not been taking his chances, with his sequence of one win in 17 hardly inspiring for would be backers. Given that victory was in lower class anyway, he looks one to take on, and with the added bonus that the Racing Post have napped him, we should be able to lay him at a shorter price. Anything around [3.5] would be acceptable.
