A tip from the joker to get your betting day under way....
The Oxford English Dictionary says an omen is, 'An event or phenomenon regarded as a portent of good or evil; a prophetic sign, an augury.'
The Joker has found an omen ahead of St Etienne's UEFA Cup match with Werder Bremen. The last time Les Verts lost a European game at the Stade Geoffroy Guichard was 1981, the year in which heavy-metal pioneers Saxon released their classic opus, 'Denim to Leather'. The Joker has not heard a better portent of evil, although 'Sad Wings of Destiny' by Judas Priest runs it close.
Twenty-eight years on, Biff Byford and the boys from Barnsley have just released 'Into the Labyrinth', their 18th studio album.
Chilling news for the French side, who have bigger things than the UEFA Cup on their mind: having won only two of their last nine league games, they've slipped into the relegation zone. Saxon have prophesied an away win, and the Joker won't cross them. Back Werder Bremen ([2.46]) to eat Les Verts for dinner.
Recommendation: Back Werder Bremen @ [2.46] to beat St Etienne
