A tip from the Joker to get your betting day under way....

Such were the young Joker's experiences with under-perfumed exchange students that, for a long time, he found it ironic that eau de Cologne had been invented in the German city of the same name.

Actually, that's not quite true. He only started to find it ironic when he stopped listening to football commentators and looked 'irony' up in the dictionary. If you too grew up with Gerald Sinstadt, you might be surprised by what you find.

By the by, it turned out that eau de Cologne was invented by an Italian who had recently moved there. Presumably he too had had issues with native levels of hygiene.

Such national stereotyping should, of course, be consigned to the dustbin of history. So be prepared for Koln (that's the German for Cologne) to come up smelling of roses when they play Hertha Berlin this evening. At the very least, they shouldn't stink the place up because Hertha have won only two of their seven away games since the Bundesliga's winter break. Lay Hertha to win at [1.89].
