Marion Bartoli played out of her skin against Serena Williams but Sabine Lisicki may be a game too far for her

"Bartoli’s struggles and yesterday’s emotional win over Williams may take its toll today and I’m backing Lisicki, but I think this could go all the way so backing three sets at around [2.3] looks a good bet."

The two most in-form players on grass of the last fortnight go head-to-head this afternoon and we should side with German starlet Sabine Lisicki, not Serena-conquering Marion Bartoli, says Sean Calvert.

It was another good day at The All England Club on Monday, as I managed to avoid the carnage in the women's section and walked away with a winning double.

Both Sabine Lisicki and Feliciano Lopez managed to get the wins - the former much more comfortably than the latter it must be said - and with both Williams siblings out and Caroline Wozniacki also now out, the draw has really opened up.

It's Ladies Quarter Finals day on Tuesday and first up on Centre Court is Lisicki, who takes on Marion Bartoli for a place in the last four against either tournament favourite Maria Sharapova, or Dominika Cibulkova.

This one has all the makings of a long battle, as both of these players have fought back from the brink of defeat in this tournament and shown tremendous character in so doing. Neither is going to go away quietly.

Both are also on tremendous unbeaten runs in the grass court season - Bartoli with nine wins from nine grass court matches and Lisicki with ten from ten, so something's got to give.

Lisicki was less than impressive for large parts of her Round 4 win over Petra Cetkovska, but that could be down to the fact that she was expected to win easily. I expect her to return to her best form today.

Bartoli was very impressive in her first-ever win over Serena Williams, particularly on serve, where she out-aced Williams and won 80 percent of her first serve points.

Their head-to-head series reads 2-1 to Lisicki and the German has won the last two, which were both on clay. Bartoli's win was on grass - at Wimbledon in 2008.

The French player was a [1.2] shot that day, but this is a lot more even in the betting, with Lisicki the slight favourite at [1.94]. I just about give her the edge.

Bartoli's struggles and yesterday's emotional win over Williams may take its toll today and I'm backing Lisicki, but I think this could go all the way so backing three sets at around [2.3] looks a good bet.

Recommended bets:

Back Lisicki to beat Bartoli at [1.94]
Back three sets at [2.3]
