Murray serves on his way to victory in searing London sunshine

"With all three higher-ranked seeds left in the competition, Murray remains fourth favourite for the men’s crown at [7.2]."

Andy Murray is still available to back at a tempting [7.4] in the Betfair market after easing into the Wimbledon quarter-finals. Meanwhile, the women's tournament has a new favourite after Serena exits the arena...

Andy Murray safely negotiated his way past French dangerman Richard Gasquet to make the Wimbledon quarter-finals for the fourth time in a row.

Many pundits were predicting a wobble for the Brit no.1 facing a player against whom he had struggled in the past.

But after securing a first set tie break it was fairly smooth for Murray who took the following two sets 6-3, 6-2. A straight sets victory was backed at [5.9] In-Play on Betfair.

With all three higher-ranked seeds left in the competition, Murray remains fourth favourite for the men's crown at [7.2].

Around the same time Murray was making the last eight, the women's competition lost its favourite when Serena Williams tumbled out at the hands of former Wimbledon finalist Marion Bartoli.

Williams arrived at the tournament after spending a year on the sidelines through injury but in temperatures at 33°C was eclipsed by a hyperactive opponent, who won 6-3, 7-6.

Bartoli, who reached the 2007 finals, trades at [10.5] to go one better having been matched as high as [260.0] in Betfair's winner market. Five players are judged to have a better chance than Bartoli with Maria Sharapova heading the betting at [3.9].

But Caroline Wozniacki isn't one of them - the world no.1 was dumped out in three sets by Dominika Cibulkov. And Serena's older sister Venus exited too, beaten in straight sets by Tsvetana Pironkova.
