Novak Djokovic - is he set for Roland Garros glory?
"Djokovic's extraordinary run has seen him pick up seven titles, including a Grand Slam and four Masters Series in 2011."
The French Open gets underway next Monday and a certain Serbian player is making real waves in the winner market as his splendid form continues. Can he deny Rafael Nadal a sixth title?
Novak Djokovic's French Open odds have plummeted following his Rome Masters Series victory over Rafael Nadal.
The Australian Open champion can be backed at [2.78] and, while the Spaniard is still favourite at [2.02], the world number two will regard this as his best chance yet to claim the Roland Garros crown.
He's on an extraordinary run of form - unbeaten in 39 singles matches and without a defeat in 2011 - which has seen him pick up seven titles, including a Grand Slam and four Masters Series.
Britain's Andy Murray, who is [28.0] to win in Paris, came closest to defeating Djokovic at the Italian event when they met in an epic semi-final contest on Saturday night. The match went to three sets and lasted three hours so it was even more astonishing that the Serb was able to dust himself down and trounce Nadal 6-4 6-4 the following day.
Everybody knows that Nadal is the king of clay - he's won five of the last six French Opens - but the world number one looks wobbly. Djokovic has clearly worked out how to beat him, winning four consecutive finals that the pair have contested and this could be his chance to add to his two Grand Slams.
It's going to be a thrilling fortnight in the French capital as, perhaps for the first time in half-a-decade, the tour heads to Roland Garros with the sense that the Federer/Nadal duopoly is in jeopardy. The Swiss, who won the title two years ago, is third favourite at long odds of [21.0] and many observers are questioning whether he will ever claim another major title.
We can't wait for the action to get under way next Monday but let us know below who you think we should watch out for.
