Hewitt comes into today's game in good form

It was a great start to proceedings in Melbourne on Monday, with three of my four recommended bets coming in, including Lukasz Kubot's [4.5] success over the hapless Sam Querrey.

I also mentioned Nikolay Davydenko as one of the day's shaky-looking favourites, so it's with full pockets that we head into Tuesday's play in the Australian Open.

The 'popcorn tennis' game of the day on the men's side has to be Aussie hope, Lleyton Hewitt against David Nalbandian in a repeat of the Wimbledon final of 2002.

They also served up a much better match here in Melbourne in 2005, which went the distance and surely it's a safe bet that this clash will be the survival of the fittest.

Both players have been in good touch in the lead-up to this and at around [1.8], the 'over 39.5 games' is well worth a back, as this late scheduled match could still be going on at lunchtime on Tuesday (UK time).

The layers have Nalbandian as slight favourite, but this one could go either way and it should be safer to back the games rather than the winner.

The Argentine has won the last two meetings between the pair, but with Hewitt's fitness and form seeming much better than it has been of late, the Aussie scrapper won't be going down without a huge fight in front of his home fans.

On the women's side, the main focus will be on a match of similar public interest, when Kim Clijsters takes on Dinara Safina, just before the Hewitt game, but with the Belgian expected to win easily, there's little value to be had there.

The ladies match that could see us turn a profit however takes place on Court 8 at midnight (UK time) and that involves Kateryna Bondarenko taking on Shuai Peng.

The Chinese player is on a roll at the moment, having won 11 of her last 13 matches and comes here on the back of strong showings in both Auckland and Hobart, where she reached the semi finals at both events.

Peng has been one to follow for a while and backing her in every match over the last 12 months would have shown a hefty profit, as she has victories such as the one over Agnieska Radwanska at the US Open at odds of [6.5] to her name.

She's also recorded wins over Marion Bartoli and recently Svetlana Kuznetsova, all of which is far more than tonight's opponent can boast.

Bondarenko was thumped 6-0, 6-4 by world number 94, Tamira Paszek, in qualifying in Hobart and she was also defeated by the mighty Elena Baltacha in this event last year when [1.13], so I think the form points to a comfortable Peng win in the pair's first ever meeting.

Peng is available to back at around [1.5] which looks reasonable, as does the [2.25] about the straight sets win if you fancy pushing the boat out.

Recommended Bets:
Back over 39.5 games in Hewitt v Nalbandian at [1.8]
Back Peng to beat Bondarenko at [1.5] Back Peng to win 2-0 at [2.25]
