The British number one eases into the third round in Melbourne as he bids to go one better than last year...

Andy Murray is [10.5] third favourite to win the Australian Open following his second round straight sets win over Ilya Marchenko.

The Scot gave an imperious account of himself as he trounced the Ukranian from start to finish, winning 6-1, 6-3, 6-3. He remains a long way behind Rafael Nadal [2.7] and Roger Federer [2.96] in the tournament winner market but in dispatching his second round opponent so comfortably, he showed that he will be a formidable opponent for whoever he meets in Melbourne.

He was particularly strong on serve against Marchenko, firing eight aces in the first set and firing in powerful first serves at key points.

Next up for Murray is Spain's Guillermo Garcia Lopez who defeated Eduardo Schwank 6-4 7-6 (10-8) 6-1 in his second round tie.
