For the next few weeks at least, I have been asked if I can give an insight into some of the non-Betfair blogs out there. I am a self-professed blog geek, reading at least 15-20 per day and commenting on just as many too, so it is only fair to give a few a mention here.
So imagine if you wrote a post which is essentially about going to the toilet and it gets literally hundreds of hits and over 30 comments!
Most poker blogs are started as a way to track their authors progress, to vent about a losing streak or to brag about big wins. The first blog I'll mention arrived on the internet on Wednesday 15 February, 2006 because the owner was "bored" and genuinely did not know if they would bother to continue to post. Three years on and the blog has exploded into one of the most popular on the net - the blog of Amatay.
Anybody who blogs regularly, knows that comments can be the be all and end all of blogging. They prove you have an audience and that you are not just spouting off to yourself and a few random lurkers. So imagine if you wrote a post which is essentially about going to the toilet and it gets literally hundreds of hits and over 30 comments! I guess when this happens, you realise you have become an internet 'celebratay', as Amatay would say! Check out Amatay post about the pitfalls of Multay Tarbling - warning...not to be read while you are eating.
One blogger who will probably have needed the toilet after a mid-air incident is Nat Arem, also known as N 82 50 24 in online circles. Nat is, for want of a better word, an internet genius, the brainchild behind "thepokerdb" and has helped out in numerous investigations for players. About ten minutes into a flight back to Philadelphia Nat describes, "we were climbing out of the Atlanta area and we were at like 15,000 feet when I heard a loud 'clunk' on the right side of the plane. It was not a sound I'd heard before on an airplane, especially considering that the landing gear was already up.' A few moments later and one of the flight attendants announced the plane had suffered an engine failure and would have to turn around and land for repairs! Scary stuff indeed. The rest of Nat's post is quite informative about how common this actually is.
Misfortune seems to be following Mr Arem around at the moment what with the recent earthquake and his painful headaches - it's a tough life living in that tax haven of Costa Rica:)
That bearded freak/all round nice guy, Daniel Negreanu has one of the most popular blogs on the net and rightly so as he gives a glimpse into the life of a top poker pro.
In a recent trip to New York City Daniel describes how he met a woman named Angel who really touched his soul. He goes on to explain, "She grabbed my arm and it felt like a bit of a warm electric shock. I know, I sound totally insane right now, but I swear, when she grabbed my arm it felt like a jolt of something shot through my whole body."
Apparently, this Angel knew things about him that nobody else could or would know and he described the experience as, "Super bizarre, and I told her that. I told her I was a bit freaked out, but not in a bad way." It is a very interested read whether or not you believe in small ball poker or the paranormal.
Finally, whilst Negreanu was busy making extra-ordinary friends, a fellow professional was trying to "de-friend" people he had met! Cardrunners training site owner, Taylor 'Green plastic' Caby diverts from his usual style of posts to let his readers know about a new "Angry Whopper" launched by fast-food giants, Burger King.
Apparently, if you install an application to Facebook and "de-friend" ten people, you get a free "Angry Whopper" for your troubles. Friends of Taylor should not be worried if they disappear from his list of friends as he will, "be de-friending 10 friends sometime in the near future to test this baby out. Don't take it personally, I'm just a sucker for a good promotion. This truly is a great example how companies can relatively cheaply use Facebook to market their product."
So that concludes this weeks round up. If you think your blog or one that you read deserves a mention then leave a comment on my blog or drop me an email and I will see what I can do!

I have been reading many of these blogs and it has never occurred to me to comment until I read your article. You're a good writer and I enjoy reading your posts. I play on line for entertainment and just enjoy the challenge of 1 table sit and goes. Mini buys ins of $1.25 usually as I like my competition as weak as I can get it. Do you know of any blogs related to low buy in sit and goes that you would recommend?
Take Care,

Hi Paul
Thanks for the kind words! Within the next couple of weeks I will do a round up that contains only small-stakes blogs instead of the usual high flyers.
How does that sound?
