The Grand National weather isn't all about what to wear - it is about the going and just how the horses will run. The weather leading up to the big race can play a very important part in who wins.

Ah The Grand National weather. For the punter heading to Aintree to watch the race this is important to decide what to wear, whether a macintosh is the order of the day and whether or not holding the glasses of Champagne will be cold or not. For the horses though the weather in the run-up to the events is all important as it'll determine the track conditions and what the Grand National going will be.

So for anyone planning on watching the race or for the serious punter - looking at the Grand National weather forecast is key. Not just for the Saturday but for the days and sometimes weeks ahead. A lot of water will mean a heavier and more cut up track whereas a dry week before the Grand National is more likely to see a faster track with good conditions for the horses.

The serious punter knows every little detail about every horse. They know if the horse does better in the rain or in the dry and what they like under their hooves. So this information will help them when they are making up their mind on which horse to back in the 2010 Grand National. With the added bonus of the exchanges it also means that punters will offer longer odds on horses they know won't suit the conditions. It gives the punter immense variety as the odds will shorten and tumble even if there's a heavy shower just before the race.

So whilst most of us don't think twice about the weather beyond grumbling, for the horses it could mean the difference between being a contender and an also ran. The Grand National weather forecast will be studied intently by punters, owners and jockeys.

Where else does the weather play so much havoc and can play into a sportsman hand except for maybe a Tim Henman Wimbledon semi-final or a Formula 1 race.

You can keep up to date with the 2010 Grand National weather forecast by checking out weather websites and of course the guys over at betting.betfair will be keeping a keen eye on the weather and will be producing articles discussing the potential 2010 Grand National going.
