It's the US Open so only the finest are invited, and with so many quality players in the field you can back a top-class talent at a huge price. Paul krishnamurty picks three players trading at more than [100.0] at Congressional

What a cruel game this betting lark can be. Nine days ago, my week off begun with the frustrating experience of watching Alex Noren win the Wales Open, having been advised in the previous week's column at [130.0] for the BMW PGA Championship. Then, Steven Rawlings took over in my absence, only to go agonisingly close with the brilliant tip of [150.0] Gary Boyd in the Italian Open. Still, at least there was some good news, in the form of six units profit towards the yearly stats. Thanks Steve!

We must take the positives from such near-misses, as it shows these big-price miracle results are possible. We're knocking on the door, and where better to earn a change of luck than the US Open. I'm going in with three picks.

First as a former European number one and multiple PGA Tour winner, Justin Rose has the pedigree to win a major, and so long as we're prepared to forgive a handful of disappointing performances since the Masters, looks overpriced at [100.0]. Previously, he'd looked a surefire imminent winner, in the strongest events. Justin's first eight strokeplay starts this year earned seven top-25s, including top-fives at Copperhead and Bay Hill. Eleventh place at The Masters was a better effort than the bare stats suggest, as he came from a mile back after looking certain to miss the weekend, with all the damage done on a disastrous short stretch of holes. Rose has twice made the US Open top-ten from only five attempts.

If Francesco Molinari is ever to win a major, the US Open represents easily his best chance. No major places greater emphasis on tee to green accuracy than this one, and Molinari has very few equals in that department. As we saw in his national Open over the weekend, Molinari may not be one to rely upon when requiring a low score on the final day, but he should be a force to be reckoned with when par is a good total. He's developing a habit of thriving in the biggest events, winning last year's WGC-HSBC Championship and finishing third at the WGC-Cadillac Championship in March.

Similarly, long game accuracy has always been the name of Robert Allenby's game, and a promising weekend performance has revived my attention in a player who always seemed the type for a US Open. Given his ability and prolific worldwide record, Allenby has seriously underperformed in the majors, although his record in this one has improved with experience, registering four top-20s this century. It would have been hard to make a case for him a fortnight ago, but 67/67 over the weekend was very encouraging. So is Allenby's record at Congressional, which includes three top-15 finishes, twice inside the top-six.

The trading advice is to lay out a total of seven units, then place two lay orders on each player at [10.0] and [3.0], with a view to more than doubling our money at least, should any one of our trio hit the first lay target.
