"If he (Mark Peters) carries on this sort of form he may well go on and become the first player to win five in a row and walk away with £100. But as they say used to say at a shoe company I once worked for: let’s take this one step at a time; first of all he’ll need to beat this weeks’ challenger, Alex Long."

Winner Stays On resumes after the early autumn break and Mark Peters looks a tricky customer after his clean sweep last midweek. This week he takes on Alex Long for the right to stay on...

Here at Betfair we're always up for innovation and challenging the status quo so we went and did what has been advocated for a long time in English football and introduced our own little early Autumn break, hence why there wasn't a weekend edition of Winner Stays On. A decision that may well have riled Mark Peters, who was in prodigious form prior to the break, having picked three winning bets from three: the draw in Werder Bremen v Spurs, under 2.5 goals in Man Utd v Rangers and for Chelsea to be leading at half-time and winning at full-time.

All this yielded a profit of £48.70, the most successful return on any edition of Winner Stays On to date. If he carries on this sort of form he may well go on and become the first player to win five in a row and walk away with £100. But as they say used to say at a shoe company I once worked for: let's take this one step at a time; first of all he'll need to beat this weeks' challenger, Alex Long.

These are the week's matches and below are their selections:

Aston Villa v Blackburn
Hamburg v Wolfsburg
