This man has been guilty of more offences than the Kray Brothers
"He’s up against MikkyMo this week and defeat would mean he’s no longer the best at what he does. He’d just be another failed WSO contestant who fell by the wayside."
Paul Robinson is one win away from winning the £100 loot. Here we recall other Paul Robinsons and look at what he's gone for this week.
There are several Paul Robinsons who have made a name for themselves over the years. Firstly, there was the character from Neighbours. A cynical, manipulative, ruthless, money-obsessed lothario who crossed and double-crossed his way through Ramsey Street for decades, creating chaos and misery. Amongst his list of misdemeanours he's been guilty of: sleeping with his wife's twin sister, fraud, arson, blackmail, money laundering and leaving his newly-wed wife just hours after the ceremony. Very much my kind of guy.
Then there's the Bolton defender, a journeyman bruiser who was always far better on Championship Manager that he was in real life. I always used to buy him off Watford for next to nothing and play him as a marauding wing-back because he had stamina 18, positioning 17 and crossing 17. But true to his real-life reputation he got himself sent off in the final of the 2003 Champions League for a headbutt on Filippo Inzaghi. Unable to cope with AC Milan's attacking threat given I was down to ten men, I lost 3-1. Not my kind of guy.
Then there's the Blackburn goalkeeper. This Robinson famously lobbed Ben Foster from within his own half whilst he was at Spurs and Foster was at Watford, in a match Spurs won 3-1. I backed under 3.5 goals in that match and didn't really expect a goalkeeper to score that day when I considered the merits of the bet so that makes this Robinson not my sort of guy either.
Finally, there's Winner Stays On's Paul Robinson. I don't know what he does or how he does it but I do know that this Paul Robinson is the best in the world at what he does. However he does it, he gets it done. He's a doer. At what he does. Which is winning editions of Winner Stays On. He's won four in a row and is one away from becoming the first-ever man to win £100 in Betfair's fantastic football tipping competition. This is crunch time though and he needs to hold his nerve when it most matters. He's up against MikkyMo this week and defeat would mean he's no longer the best at what he does. He'd just be another failed WSO contestant who fell by the wayside.
