It wasn't always the case that footballers were millionaires. Had they been born in another era this might have happened...

Before footballers became millionaires they were just well-paid professionals and before that they were amateurs who had ordinary jobs and played football for some spare cash. When there wasn't cash to pay them with, they played for post-match pints and the odd pork pie. Here at WSO we were thinking about what the players likely to feature in tomorrow's FA Cup semi between the two Manchesters could do if they had been born in another era. Here's what we came up with.

If an uprising against greedy paymasters (let's call them the Premier League) Patrice Evra could be the ringleader in terms of going on strike against them with a little support and advice from master-believer-in-the union- Gary Neville, who is lucky to escape a suspension when choosing to be involved. Spreading the word would be vital so they'd ask Rio Ferdinand to post messages somewhere where everyone could know what was going on. The paymasters don't like the revolt and start intimidating the workforce so the protesters decide they need an enforcer and choose Nigel De Jong.

In addition to still working their normal hours, all this protesting is taking up a lot of time and with all their wives occupied with their own jobs, they need someone to look after all the kids whilst they're busy plotting. They elect Nani.

The protesters start to fight amongst one another over leadership, wages and who's the best protester. After careful investigation thy discover Mario Balotelli was the centre of all the trouble so he's expelled but they still feel they need more of a band of "brothers mentality". So they go out and find a band of brothers; Rafael, Fabio, Yaya and Kolo join the uprising. They overhaul the paymasters and need to elect a leader who is wise, charismatic and powerful but decide that time-keeping is an essential part of running operations if they're going to thrive under the new regime. Sir Alex comes in.

I'm afraid you're both eliminated as per the rules of the game under Point 5.
