Wales' odds for Saturday's Euro 2012 qualifier against England have drifted to [9.0] after Gareth Bale was ruled out of the match with a hamstring injury.

The Tottenham player suffered the injury prior to joining up with Gary Speed's squad but it had been thought that he would be fit to play on Saturday. However, Bale continued to feel tight on his hamstring and missed training on Wednesday before being withdrawn from the squad.

The news is a big blow to Wales for whom Bale is a key player. He's been in sparkling form for Spurs this season and has been central to their Champions League progress. However, he has had injury problems recently and missed all of February with a back problem.

England will undoutedly see Bale's ommission as a boost as they had identified him, along with Arsenal's Aaron Ramsey, as a key threat. Fabio Capello's men are strong favourites to win the match at [1.43].
