Wins for Blackburn, Bristol City and Cesena on Wednesday night reward correct score backers on Betfair

How do you follow a 1-0 victory away to your fiercest rivals that pushes you into the automatic promotion picture? With a home defeat against relegation-threatened Bristol City apparently, judging by Swansea's stumble last night.

The Robins' shock 1-0 triumph wasn't bad news for everyone though, as anyone who stuck a tenner on the scoreline on Betfair would have won back £190, even accounting for the maximum five per cent commission, whereas Ladbrokes and Stan James customers had to settle for just £80.

It was a similar story for Newcastle fans, who having climbed to fifth with wins over Sunderland and Arsenal no doubt expected to brush aside Blackburn. Sam Allardyce got the better of his former club 2-1 though, earning Betfair punters £180.50, while Ladbrokes and Stan James dished out only £100.

Over in Serie A, Lazio surrendered top spot with a 1-0 loss to struggling Cesena, but followers of the Biancocelesti could have cushioned the blow on Betfair by sticking £20 on their team being beaten. They'd have received £60.80 to help get over the disappointment, whereas SportingBet paid only £46.
