Andrew French talks us through the betting in tonight's matches in the Championship, League One and Two, including a tasty multiple on the three table toppers coming good

The top four in the Championship could pull six points clear of the chasing pack in a full programme of key fixtures tonight.

Having slipped up at Barnsley on Saturday, West Brom were knocked off top spot but there is every reason to be confident their excellent home form will continue when they host Sheffield United. The Baggies can be backed at [1.73].

It was Watford who took over at the summit, and the Hornets have seemingly found some form again after a very indifferent spell. They ended the last remaining unbeaten home record when winning at Ipswich on Saturday, and having shaken off their long winless hoodoo at Vicarage Road, they can be backed at [1.76] with some confidence to beat a Leicester side that hasn't won away in eight attempts.

I also fancy the other top-four sides to cement their places this evening: Bristol City's trip to Scunthorpe will test their resolve as the home side are scrapping away at the foot of the table, but I'd be backing the Robins at [2.58]. Meanwhile Stoke host Southampton, who have one of the worst away defensive records in the division. City have won three of their last four and can be backed at [1.85] - a similar price about Over 2.5 goals also appeals in that fixture.

So, if the top four triumph, the pressure is on Charlton, and I fear they may slip up at struggling Sheffield Wednesday. I might have backed a draw, but Wednesday have not drawn at home all season - it's win or bust obviously. The Addicks lost at Scunthorpe recently, and have not won on the road in six attempts. Defeat could leave the top four six points away and I feel the London club may well be facing that prospect come Wednesday morning - backing the Owls at [3.1] is the suggestion.

With a near full programme tonight in Leagues One and Two as well, Betfair are offering a special 'Table Toppers' multiple covering the three league leaders: Watford, Swansea and MK Dons. The first two have home games, while the Dons are away at Shrewsbury, making the treble price quite attractive. This treble is currently a [6.6] shot and you can access it by clicking here.

Swansea's game with Walsall is the fixture of the night in League One, and the records show not only are both chasing promotion but both have free-scoring attacks. Therefore, it would be worth considering the Overs markets.

Elsewhere in League One, Leyton Orient can capitalise on Crewe's miserable away form and are backable at [1.79], while new Leeds manager Gary McAllister has had a less than auspicious start, and so backing tonight's visitors Nottingham Forest at [3.15] could represent good value. Forest will not be bothered by the big crowd, who could well turn on the home side if their current patchy form continues.

In League Two, there may be a tasty 'away treble' to be had on the multiples markets.

Lincoln have won three on the spin under new manager Peter Jackson and can be backed at [3.05] to win at Accrington, who have lost nine of 14 league games at home.

Mansfield have not won two in a row all season, and so Saturday's victory at Wycombe may count for little when they host Morecambe tonight. Sammy McIlroy's side have enjoyed a pleasing first season in the league and can be backed at [2.98].

Struggling Bury have now sorted their managerial situation and host Wycombe, who will want to quickly atone for that home defeat to Mansfield. The Chairboys have taken 13 points from a possible 15 in their last five away games, and the [2.52] to back them makes plenty of appeal.

Bad luck with that 6.6 treble which looked good at one stage last night until Shrewsbury spoilt it with a late equaliser.......a few of the other bets mentioned were successful though.

Great article, I followed your advice and put Watford, Stoke, Lincoln and Swindon (my own tip :D) into a multiple at odds at 16.1...
