In a week where the club fell further into chaos, Ben Davies is trying to just stay focused on his own football.

Notts midfielder Ben Davies gives us a first hand account of the craziest week of all at the craziest club in League Two where having lost their owners on Saturday, the club then lost their manager on Tuesday. Plus why Paul Scholes sets the standard for all midfielders.

"Hans will be missed at the club as he had great knowledge of the game, was beginning to get his training methods and tactics across to the players and was a manager who cared whole- heartedly for the lads as human beings as well as footballers. I wish him all the very best for the future."

Well, where do I start this week? If my time to date at Notts County had already been action-packed, this last week really was something else!

Since I last wrote this column we have had our owners pull out and yesterday we lost our manager.

Last Thursday we arrived at the club to the news that Munto Finance, our Dubai based owners, had pulled out of their agreement to own the club and that it was now up for sale. This came as a big surprise to all of the lads and the coaching staff. The news got better on Saturday as our Chairman, Peter Trembling, announced that he had bought the club and everything was to go ahead as normal and we were currently talking to new investors, who were keen on investing in the club.

On the pitch, we were at home to Accrington on Saturday and our performance was quite frankly - shocking. The worst performance of the season by a mile. We lost two-one and threw away our unbeaten home record.

Then came the biggest shock of all. We arrived in to training on Tuesday morning and were told to convene in the dressing room only to be told by our manager, Hans Backe, that he was leaving his post. It came as a huge disappointment to us all as the boss was very popular with us all, a fantastic coach and a top bloke. He was only in the hot seat seven weeks but it really was a pleasure to work with him. He informed us why he resigned, shook all of our hands and then left the club.

Hans will be missed at the club as he had great knowledge of the game, was beginning to get his training methods and tactics across to the players and was a manager who cared whole- heartedly for the lads as human beings as well as footballers. I wish him all the very best for the future.

The reins are now handed back to our assistant manager Dave Kevan and coach Tommy Johnson. The pair, along with Michael Johnson, did a fantastic job when they took control before and will no doubt get us moving up the table. It is hard to stay focused when there is so much going on behind the scenes at the club, but the coaching staff and Sven-Goran Eriksson have done a fantastic job in keeping our minds right and concentrating just on our football.

It is the start now of a very busy schedule for us, ending in a Third round F.A Cup tie against Forest Green Rovers. That will be a very tough game for us but if we get through this tie there is a chance to get a top side in the next round and come up against some of the world's best players. I have been fortunate enough in my career to play against some of the top sides such as Liverpool, Everton, Man City and Manchester United and their international superstars and one player in particular who I will never forget, is a certain Paul Scholes.

Scholes is the best player I have come up against by a country mile. The only one who would run him close was Paul Gascoigne. The little man was awesome the day I came up against him. It was a privilege to be on the same pitch as him. As a midfielder he has the lot. I could not get close to him as his movement and first touch were unlike anything I had witnessed before. If ever I was training a youngster to be the perfect midfielder I would sit them in front of a television and put on a DVD of Scholes in his hey day. He is a pleasure to watch and even though his goals have dried up a bit of late, his range of passing is absolute class and he never gives the ball away.

The best player I have played with would have to be Jan Molby. Although I did not play a competitive game with Jan he was my manager and joined in training everyday and played in the odd pre-season friendly. He didn't move very far but then again he didn't need to as his passing was unbelievably accurate and he made everyone give him the ball. He was in his forties then but as far as vision, passing range and touch went, he was the best player on the pitch.

Seeing as I've been raving about "Scholesy", my bet for this week is going to feature Manchester United . I am going to bet that Man Utd will win Fulham at [1.55] and I think the score will be 0-2 to Man Utd at [7.6].
