A tip from the Joker to get your betting day under way....

Upon first glance at Roa v Lyn, the Joker was curious to find out whether it might involve Carlos Roa, his all-time favourite Argentinian goalkeeper.

In his playing days Roa was so much of a vegetarian that his team-mates knew him as Lechuga (Lettuce). Then he got malaria. And testicular cancer. Some might say, 'I wonder if he's still vegetarian.' They would be unenlightened sorts, however, and the Joker's not one of them.

But there was a time when Roa didn't think he was one of those either. A decade ago, he declined to enter new contract talks with his club, Real Mallorca, because he thought the world would be coming to an end at the turn of the millennium. The first training session of the new century must have been a touch awkward.

This is all off-topic, of course, because Roa versus Lyn does not have anything to do with Carlos Roa. Roa are really a small Norwegian club, who this evening face Lyn Oslo, a much bigger Norwegian club, in that country's national cup competition. Lyn finished the Tippeligaen season very poorly, failing to win any of their last eight games. Although blind faith didn't serve Carlos Roa very well, the Joker will be laying Lyn at very short odds.

Recommendation: Lay Lyn at [1.20] to beat Roa
