A tip from the Joker to get your betting day under way....
Strange to think that a century ago Newcastle United were the pre-eminent team in England. In the late 1900s the Toon won three league titles and reached three FA Cup finals.
No one liked going to St James' Park in those days. Except one team. In December 1908 Sunderland came to town for a league game. At half-time, the score was 1-1. In 28 second-half minutes, the visitors scored 8 (EIGHT) times. The final score was 9-1. Apparently the pitch was quite heavy. Even so.
100 years on, and Sunderland can ensure their survival in the Premier League - perhaps at Newcastle's expense - with a win at Portsmouth. Expect the Black Cats to be a little less expansive than they were all those years ago. They have been level at the break in four of their last six away games. Pompey have exactly the same record at Fratton Park, making the half-time draw the standout selection at [2.10].
Recommendation: Back the half-time draw at [2.10] in Portsmouth v Sunderland
