Canada has a reputation, put about by a somewhat brasher neighbour, as a rather boring place. On a day trip from the States, and in an unusually open-minded frame of mind, the Joker once tried to go to Canada. Unfortunately, it was closed.

The opening match of the 2009 CONCACAF Gold Cup pits Canada against Jamaica. The Maple Leafs failed to win any of their last six World Cup qualifiers at the back end of last year, losing four of them, including a 3-0 defeat to tonight's opponents. They haven't played a competitive game since. The Reggae Boyz have won seven of their last eight competitive matches.
