Can Andy see off Wawrinka?

"It may be worth considering laying Murray to win 3-0 and backing Wawrinka +7.5 Games."

Andy Murray faces the toughest test of his 2010 US Open campaign at Flushing Meadows tonight against a player he thrashed en route to the final two years ago. Does Ben Caudell expect a repeat performance?

Andy Murray (GBR) v Stanislas Wawrinka (SUI)

Andy Murray has so far breezed through to the third round and victory over Wawrinka tonight would set up a last 16 contest against either Sam Querrey or Nicolas Almagro. However, Murray is conscious of the threat the Swiss number presents having already fought against Wawrinka on eight previous occasions. Their most notable encounter, a fourth round 2009 Wimbledon five set epic in-which Murray was the victor, lasted just under four hours.

Number 25 seed Wawrinka, who has so far dispatched Mikhail Kukushkin and Juan Ignacio Chela without dropping a set, has vowed to show attacking intent afrom the off. His best results this year have come on the slower clay court surface and he has one tournament win to his name in 2010 at the Casablanca Open. His best hard court performance came in Chennai where he made it through to the final. He is currently 5-5 on the hard courts and 7-3 at the US Open reaching the fourth round in 2008 and 2007.

Andy Murrays stats speak volumes in terms of form coming into tonight's match. The fiery Scot is 9-1 on hard courts, 8-2 at the US Open, has won seven of his last five set matches and, more remarkably, 12 in a row when priced as a heavy favourite.

I predict this match to be a lot tougher for Murray than his two previous rounds and we could see the Brit drop a set for the first time at this year's event. In all eight matches played against Wawrinka, only three have been won in straight sets, therefore it may be worth considering laying Murray to win 3-0 and to back Wawrinka +7.5 Games.

Selection: Back Wawrinka +7.5 Games @ 1.64
Lay A Murray 3-0 @ 1.9
