Punters who like to bet on the world's top tennis players will enjoy the Stuttgart Women's Open as
all of the leading players intend to travel to Germany for the tournamnet.
Top ranked players will dominate the betting for one of the premier indoor events on the WTA calendar, after confirming their participation at Stuttgart's Porsche-Arena from 29 September to 7 October.
It's the 30-year anniversary of the big-prizemoney tournament, and the Belgian Justine Henin will arrive as a short-odds favourite in the betting having justified her favourite status as the top bet at Flushing Meadows by winning a second US Open and seventh Grand Slam title. She recorded a 6-1 6-3 victory over the bookmaker's outside bet Svetlana Kuznetsova in Saturday's final.
Henin will surely start at short odds in the betting as she bids to make it third time lucky. Twice she has been beaten in the final here, to Lindsay Davenport in 2001 and to Kim Clijsters in 2003.
Shrewd punters will look at Ana Ivanovic's odds in the pre-tournament betting. The 19-year-old Serb has risen to number 5 in the WTA rankings, but should still be decent odds behind the usual suspects in Germany. Ivanovic impressed in winning the Berlin, before reaching the French Open final where she lost to Henin. Ivanovic could be worth a bet to finally go one better in Stuttgart.
Another good value bet in Germany could be the Russian Nadia Petrova - the reigning champion after beating the Frenchwoman Tatiana Golovin 6:3, 7:6, while clued-up backers will monitor the form and betting of the run-up events before Stuttgart, in Luxembourg and Seoul.
