Kim is as focussed as ever abd desperate to add this title to her US Open crown

"Kim comes into this afternoon’s final with incredible pedigree on the big stage. She has won 10 of her last 11 matches overall all on the hard court surface, has won six of seven when her opponent is a top 10 player and seven of her last eight when priced as favourite."

Kim Clijsters is up against the ever-improving Caroline Wozniacki in the final of this end-of-season tournament where huge amounts of cash are at stake. Ben caudell tells us which camp he's firmly in....

Kim Clijsters (BEL) v Caroline Wozniacki (DEN)

In a repeat of the 2009 US Open ladies final, the current No. 1 ranked player in the world Caroline Wozniacki of Denmark faces a three-time Grand Slam winner and former world No.1 Kim Clijsters of Belgium.

Clijsters, who is playing in her first tournament since the 2010 Flushing Meadows triumph, made it through to her fifth final of the year despite being involved in a car accident on her way to the tournament venue which understandably left her a bit shaken up.

The 27 year-old Belgium was uninjured in the crash, arrived on time for her match and even posted a photo on her twitter page showing the damage to the right front door of the car. Although Sam Stosur took a 3-0 lead in the first set (thanks partly to Clijsters' understandable inability to focus 100% on the task ahead) it was the more experienced Belgian who was triumphant and increased her head-to-head series lead over the Australian to 5-0.

Wozniacki will no doubt have her backers for this end of year championship finale, having had such a successful year in which she won six WTA Tournaments to reach the number one spot in the rankings.

But my money will be on Clijsters, who I feel is the stronger of the two in the big matches and represents value at [1.80] to add this trophy to an already over-crammed cabinet.

Kim comes into this afternoon's final with incredible pedigree on the big stage. She has won 10 of her last 11 matches overall all on the hard court surface, has won six of seven when her opponent is a top 10 player and seven of her last eight when priced as favourite.

Caroline boasts similar statistics although what stands out for me is the fact that Clijsters has not lost in a final since her 2007 Antwerp defeat to Amelie Mauresmo. Furthermore Kim's last outdoor hard court final defeat was in July 2006, over 4 years ago! Against Maria Sharapova in San Diego...

With these stats in mind, the fact that she is the older and wiser of the two and her 1-0 head-to-head series lead over her opponent, I can't see Kim not making the most of this opportunity to make some more serious cash.

Selection:

Back Kim Cljisters @[1.85] to win match
Back Clijsters 2-0 @ [3.1]
