With both men and women competing at the Kremlin Cup there are widespread betting opportunities between October 8-14 at the Olympic Stadium, with varying odds available.

Betting at the tournament has been dominated by Russians over the years but the odds on a home-grown winner in both tournaments have lengthened with betting available on a field coming from right across Europe.

Nikolay Davydenko was a good bet last year, beating fellow Russian Marat Safin in the final, and he also landed the odds in 2004, while veteran Yevgeny Kafelnikov rewarded those betting on him by claiming the title five times in succession between 1997-2001.

A bet on Igor Andreev in 2005 would have reaped rewards, but he has not pulled up any trees since that victory, while Safin has yet to reward those betting on him in the Russian capital.

It should be noted by punters looking for a bet that the top male players tend to bypass the event, and so the odds of a lesser-known player scooping the title increase but, for the women, US Open champion and world number one Justine Henin has reversed the men's trend after announcing she will participate in the event.

Maria Sharapova will not play this year but Svetlana Kuznetsova and Anna Chakvetadze, the defending champion, have confirmed their participation in what should be a competitive women's event.

Anastasia Myskina won the tournament in 2003 and 2004 and could be a popular bet on home soil, while France's Amelie Mauresmo is looking to salvage something from an injury-plagued season and her odds could represent value.

Women's tennis is dominated by Russians at present and so the line-up for the women's tournament is impressive with the home stars looking a good bet to impress in front of their own fans.
