"Murray has only one win against Fish on the hard court surface and that was way back in 2006 at the Washington Open."
Andy Murray has a poor record against Mardy Fish and the American is currently setting the hardcourts ablaze. So who does Ben Caudell expect t triumph in Saturday's semi-final?
Andy Murray (GBR) v Mardy Fish (USA)
Andy Murray eased through to the semi-finals of Cincinnati, beating Gilles Simon 6-3 6-3, to give himself the daunting task of facing Mardy Fish - a man who looks unstoppable on the American hard-courts.
I'm finding it very hard to oppose Mardy Fish in this scintillating match-up. Yesterday, he stormed through his match against Rafael Nadal yesterday in straight sets 6-3 6-4, winning 82% of his first service points without being broken.
The 29-year-old not only has a great record in Cincinnati, having reached two previous finals, he also comes into battle against Murray with a 4-3 head-to-head series lead, winning all three of their most recent meetings. Two of those were won by Mardy on the American hard (Cincinnati and Miami).
Murray has only one win against Fish on the hard court surface and that was way back in 2006 at the Washington Open. Fish has won ten of his last 11 matches in America, eight of his last nine in Cincinnati, seven of his last eight at Master Series level and has a superior match rating and surface rating. Murray has lost four of his last five against top ten Players.
With the speedy Cincinnati surface favouring Fish's serve and volley tactics and the fact that he will have the support from the home crowd, [2.14] represents a good value bet.
