"Hewitt on the other hand has everything to gain from this match, he is as positive as I have ever seen him, exudes confidence, and is simply loving playing tennis."

Lleyton Hewitt is loving the game at the moment and Ben Caudell is tipping him to upset the odds today...

Roger Federer (SUI) v Lleyton Hewitt (AUS) - Roger Federer managed to get through a tough test against David Ferrer yesterday to increase his head-to-head to 9-0 over the Spaniard.

Having taken an early break in the first set Federer then showed some erratic tendencies that were prominent in his defeat of Jo-Wilfried Tsonga at last week's Montreal Master series event. He subsequently lost the first set 6-3.

I am not totally convinced that Federer is 100% game for winning this event with his sights solely on retaining the U.S Open crown he won last year. He doesn't have to defend any ranking points this week because he lost to Ivo Karlovic in the third round in 2008 so will in fact gain points for just reaching the quarter final stage.

Hewitt on the other hand has everything to gain from this match - he is as positive as I have ever seen him in the past, exudes confidence, and is simply loving playing tennis. The dogged Aussie has a great record at Cincinnati, reaching the semi-final stage three times and the final twice since 2000.

A win against Federer will also give him a good chance of accumulating enough ranking points to reach a seeding position in the U.S Open - he is currently ranked 42 in the world.

Roger Federer leads their head-to-head series 14-7 and has won the last twelve matches against the Adelaide native; you have to go as far back as 2003 for a Hewitt victory, a Davis Cup five set thriller.....

I believe Hewitt has a good chance to upset the odds today and finally record a much needed win over the Swiss. I don't believe he fears Roger Federer as much as some other players on the Tour do and he has the guts to fight back from any losing position. Whether Federer himself has the desire to dig deep if things start to not go his way is far more questionable.
