Roger Federer went some way to improving his head-to-head record against Andy Murray yesterday and should be too good for Novak Djokovic today.

"I expect the world number one to dictate the majority of points from the back of the court in his usual effortless manner, stepping up a gear when it really matters and forcing Djokovic into hitting unforced errors."

Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic were the ones emerging victorious from yesterday's semis and they will meet this afternoon with both keen to show they mean business ahead of the US Open. And the ball is very much in Roger Federer's court, says Ben Caudell.

Roger Federer (SUI) v Novak Djokovic (SRB) -

No.1 Seed Roger Federer will today meet No.4 seed Novak Djokovic in the Cincinnati final. Sending out a warning sign to his rivals ahead of the US Open with an eye-catching display of top-class tennis against No.2 and defending champion Andy Murray, the Swiss master stopped a four match losing streak against Murray, stomping home to 6-2 7-6 victory.

Novak Djokovic, who stopped a five match losing streak against Rafael Nadal with a 6-1, 6-4 win over the Spaniard will play his second final at Cincinnati in as many years. The young Serbian, who also defeated Rafael Nadal by a similar score line at the same stage at last year's event, eventually lost to Andy Murray 7-6, 7-6 in the 2008 final.

Federer is trying to become the fourth player to win at least three titles in Cincinnati in the Open era; he has recorded a 7-4 lifetime lead in the head-to-head series with Novak Djokovic and is 5-3 on hard courts. The Serb however, has won the last two matches this season both matches going to three sets.

This final will undoubtedly be a great one to watch, Federer has been unstoppable on his serve this week and will no doubt put a lot of pressure on Djokovic to hold his own. I expect the world number one to dictate the majority of points from the back of the court in his usual effortless manner, stepping up a gear when it really matters and forcing Djokovic into hitting unforced errors.
