Specialist doubles player Lukasz Kubot is beginning to make a name for himself in singles and should prove too good for Jose Acasuso today.

"There is however value in backing the Polish doubles specialist, who is now starting to show a lot of promise on the singles tour. Having already qualified for the Cincinnati Masters main draw with straight sets wins over Julien Benneteau (6-2, 7-5) and Teimuraz Gabashvili (6-1, 6-2), the 27 year-old will be looking to capitalise on his first ever Masters 1000 main draw event."

It's not the most glamorous tie the ATP calendar will serve up this year but Jose Acasuso v Lukasz Kubot provides a good opportunity for us to make money on day one. And it should pay to side with the Pole, says Ben Caudell.

Jose Acasuso (ARG) v Lukasz Kubot (POL) -

This isn't the most exiting match on paper. Jose Acasuso, ranked 51 in the world and Lukasz Kubot ranked 135, have never really graced us with the sublime tennis we are accustomed with at this level of the game.

There is however value in backing the Polish doubles specialist, who is now starting to show a lot of promise on the singles tour. Having already qualified for the Cincinnati Masters main draw with straight sets wins over Julien Benneteau (6-2, 7-5) and Teimuraz Gabashvili (6-1, 6-2), the 27 year-old will be looking to capitalise on his first ever Masters 1000 main draw event.

In May 2009, at the Serbia Open, Kubot amazingly reached the final as a lucky loser, becoming the first Pole to reach an ATP final in 26 years. He eventually succumbed to the world number three at the time, Novak Djokovic. With this in mind and the fact that Jose Acasuso hasn't played a hard court tournament since March this year, has had frequent injuries over the last three months (including retiring from Hamburg in July and Wimbledon in June) we should see Kubot progress to the second round.

Selection: Back Lukasz Kubot @ [1.7] to win match

Juan Carlos Ferrero (SPA) v Marin Cilic (CRO) -

Everything suggests that Juan Carlos Ferrero will have the better of Marin Cilic today.

Ferrero is currently on a tremendous run of form reaching the fourth round last week of the Montreal Master Series event, losing to eventual winner Andy Murray.

He reached the same round in Washington a week before and the final of the Umag tournament held in Croatia. He has a decent record at this week's event (7-3) reaching the fourth round in 2007 and the final in 2006. On his way to reaching the final in 2006 he defeated tennis heavy weights James Blake, Robin Soderling, Rafael Nadal and Tommy Robredo, before losing to Andy Roddick in the final.

Cilic on the other hand has never won a match at Cincinnati and has been struggling to find form since his Davis Cup wins over James Blake and Mardy Fish of the USA. Ferrero has a great record against big servers and he will relish the prospect of yet another successful tournament before the big one - the U.S Open, which starts at the end of the month.

Selection: Back Juan Carlos Ferrero @1.74 to win match

Best Bet - Back Lukasz Kubot @1.7 to win match (1st round Cincinnati Master Series)
