The imperious Roger Federer in action against Andy Murray

"Federer leads their head-to-head series 6-1 with the only defeat at this years US Open. He looks to be back to his very best and is determined to win everything that is up for grabs. With his slice backhand taking full effect on this low bouncing, grippy court, the lanky Del Potro will find it hard to get down to the ball."

Ben Caudell can find no reason to doubt the master of men's tennis against Del Potro tonight

Roger Federer (SWI) v Juan Martin Del Potro (ARG)
Swiss legend Federer was crowned ATP World Tour Champion for the fifth time in a ceremony that took place at the O2 yesterday afternoon. With five year-end no.1 finishes, Federer ties Jimmy Connors' mark and now stands just one back of Pete Sampras on the list of all-time ATP World Tour Champions. He has become the clear favourite to win this year's Tour Finals after defeating Andy Murray on Tuesday night and has already guaranteed a semi-final birth.

Tonight's remaining group match against Juan Martin Del Potro, the young Argentine who spectacularly defeated Federer in an epic five set encounter at this years US Open, has become a dead rubber for the Swiss master.

However, Federer will be relishing the prospect of seeking revenge and to retain an unblemished record in his attempt to become the World Tour Finals champion for a fifth time in his career. If he wins the tournament without losing a match Fed will take home a cool $1,630,000.

Del Potro can mathematically still qualify for a semi-final spot if he was to defeat Federer and Fernando Verdasco was to win against Andy Murray in the afternoon match. If Verdasco does not succeed, Del Potro will have little to play for other than pride and I can see Federer winning comfortably in straight sets.

With his slice backhand taking full effect on this low bouncing, grippy court, the lanky Del Potro will find it hard to get down to the ball. I can see this being a formality for the Swiss Master with the dollar notes 'cha-chinning' in his eyes

Selection: Back Roger Federer @ 1.4 to win match
Back Roger Federer 2-0 @ 2.05
