Ahead of the Texas Primary we take a look at the Lone Star state and what the chances for the candidates are
Democratic Primary Analysis:
Hillary Clinton is behind in this state on the Betfair market, but to have any real chance of winning the nomination she needs to pull off a surprise victory here. Despite being [3.55] on Betfair she is only 0.3% behind in the polls (source: RealClearPolitics.com) and must be buoyed by the large Hispanic population in the state, a demographic amongst which she has been very successful in courting so far in the primary season.
Barack Obama was behind in Texas until only recently but winning here would be a strong nail in the Clinton coffin. The race is on such a knife-edge overall that this state is pivotal and could prove the difference between the end of the contest or the re-emergence of a two-horse race.
Republican Primary Analysis:
John McCain is currently [1.01] favourite here and there looks little chance of any upset. He leads Mike Huckabee in latest polling by nearly 20 points and the McCain camp looks set to continue it's march to the GOP nomination here by sewing up all 140 delegates with relative ease.
