There should be no such joy for Jennifer Ellison this week

It's not quite Chico's time to depart the competition says Simon Hopper, and instead he believes Jennifer Ellison is a confident selection in this week's Elimination market.

I'm surprised that Jennifer Ellison isn't the favourite to be eliminated from Dancing On Ice this weekend and she rates the best bet to depart in Sunday's semi-final.

The actress has improved her score five weeks in a row now and last Sunday's clown themed rendition of 'You've Got a Friend in Me' was very enjoyable and well-thought out. But even with her recent improvement she's still the worst of the four remaining skaters by some distance.

While she uses her ability as an actress to good effect and is excellent at the lifting elements, Jennifer just doesn't have the basic skating skills of Chico, Jorgie Porter or Matthew Wolfenden. And it shows in the scores; she's never outperformed her nearest rival (Chico) and has never managed a score of 25.0 or above, which everyone else has done on numerous occasions.

The only negative to this bet is that Jennifer has never been in the skate-off to date, so she clearly has a lot of voters in Liverpool and beyond. But Matthew and Jorgie still look rock solid at the head of the market so it looks very much like being a Chico v Jennifer skate-off this weekend. Chico's the better skater, so he'll probably stay.

Therefore, the obvious play is to back Jennifer to leave - I think she'll trade at around [2.75] on the night.

Some punters might be tempted to back Jorgie at around [17.0] because of her bottom score last weekend but I would advise against that. She is being caught by Matthew in the judges' scores but she's got more than enough credit in the bank with the voting public to make next week's final.

Even in the unlikely event she was in the skate-off, it would take a monumentally poor performance for the judges to actually vote her off. Just stick with Jennifer this week and then re-convene ahead of next Sunday's final.
