"The only real shock is third favourite Paddy Doherty. He is priced at [5.1], or [2.44] to be top male, and could yet emulate past winner Alex Reid by reinventing himself as a muscular bonehead with a heart, and winning the bloody thing."

The Betfair market has decided there are only three real potential winners at this stage, and that's counting Jedward as one. Eliot Pollak gives us an update on the events and the betting of this latest edition of the hit show.

Having made a promising high-profile start, this season's CBB has somewhat drifted in its second week, proving exactly why Channel4 were right to ditch it.

Perhaps the biggest problem is the predictability of it all. Such familiarity with the format means that on opening night, it is already fairly clear who could win, who has no chance, and who will hang around a while but go no further. Dark horses rarely emerge.

Low-profilers like Pamela, Bobby and Darryn are still clogging up the boggier areas of the winner's market (all above [50.0]), whilst Kerry, and Jedward remain the favourites (at [2.88] and [3.85] respectively.) The static level of the markets are not helped by the absence of 24 hr streaming. With only an hour or so of antics to watch each night, the chances of contestants raising or lowering their winning chances are limited. The great market-moving moments of BBs past have often emerged from the live footage.

The only real shock is third favourite Paddy Doherty. He is priced at [5.1], or [2.44] to be top male, and could yet emulate past winner Alex Reid by reinventing himself as a muscular bonehead with a heart, and winning the bloody thing.

Amy Childs has been a massive disappointment so far. Her brainless shtick made her the star of The Only Way is Essex, but that's quite clearly thanks to the cutting room floor, which must be overflowing with footage of her staring mindlessly out of a window. None of the blokes seem to fancy her either.

The more likely romance in the house seems to be happening between Lucien and Tara Reid. As in Tara Reid who got married hours before moving into the house. Suffice to say, a half-empty honeymoon suite somewhere is probably being smashed up on a daily basis.

Of those who have far too much work to do to win the thing - Bobby only just scraped first eviction survival, and now has a mountain to climb. He's probably been too bitchy to find redemption with BB voters, who are like elephants. Fat. And unable to forget.
Darryn also has no chance. He's a cruel, grumpy man, with the most preposterous pretend body. He would have done better to draw muscles on with a black permanent marker.

Pamela is just plain dull, an extraordinarily optimistic signing from the producers, who were clearly hoping nobody would spot that she isn't Pamela Anderson.
