Roady The Star Of The Show In $1 Million Freeroll Week 7

Roady is the latest player to take a step closer to winning a million dollars after winning the May 31st UK Regional Satellite in Betfair's Million Dollar Game Freeroll.

Always handily placed throughout the closing stages of the tournament, roady finally got the better of a resiliant cordero after a prolonged heads-up battle and joins clevert1, strikeone, filanderer, Diavolo00, RIVEREDZZZ and pagey44 in the regional live final later this year.

With just the one seat up for grabs and none the the usual laddering prevalent in regular MTT events taking place there was plenty of action from the start of the final table.

Indeed, the very first hand of the final table saw two players (sitting on around 22k each) ludovico (utg+1) and pjd28 (utg) all-in pre-flop with the former turning up Kh10h with the latter tabling AJo. No hearts and an Ace on the flop meant ludovico was drawing dead on the river when a 7 hit the turn. A nice double up for pjd28 but a hand that effectively put ludovico out of contention.

Next to go was danners who raised it up to 1600 from middle position and was called by the well positioned and similarly stacked players annairb and glengarry (all had around 23k). On a flop of 7h5hAc danners made a half pot bet with annairb calling and glengarry getting out the way.

A turn of 4c saw danners getting it all in but was inst called by annairb who had flopped a set of sevens. AhJh for danners meant only a heart would save his tournemnt but a 2c on the river saw the second double up of the final table.

The very next hand it was glengarry's turn to say goodbye to this week's chance of getting closer to the one million dollar prize when re-raising pjd28 half pot bet of 1920 to 8,800 on a flop of Jd10s10c. There was no hesitation from the initial aggressor who shoved his remaining 42k leaving glengarry a big decision given he was holding JQo for two pair and a decent kicker.

His heart must have fell when pjd28 showed 10h6h for flopped trips and with two insignificant cards on the turn and river his fate was sealed.

Twenty minutes after the precariously short stacked ludovico left the arena the writing was on the wall for nellybo9. With blinds at 600/1200, he made up the small blind before checking a flop of Jh4s5d. Calling a pot sized bet from roady in the big blind, both players saw the Ah land on the turn. nellybo9 then check raised roady to 9870 who swiftly called all-in. Unfortunately for nellybo9 his flopped set of jacks was not good enough for the eventual winner's turned straight Ace to Five.

Bust outs come like buses and it was pjd who was catching the 28 home after tangling with roady a couple of hands later. Faced with a 4 times the big blind raise from roady, pjd28 instantly shoved his remaining 60k chips into the middle with AJo leaving roady thinking for a while before shoving the rest of his stack in with QQ. The flop, turn and river missed both players leaving roady with a healthy advatage as the game became four handed. roady 128k, cordero 72k, annairb 34k and billbowl on 29k.

A pair of deuces saw off a short stacked annairb who had played patiently but his AJo failed to improve..and then there were three.

Billbowl exited in rather unlucky circumstances when all-in with his pair of jacks only to be met by cordero's pair of queens.

It was to be queens that were the undoing of cordero in the end. Holding a near 3:1 chip lead and blinds at 1250/2500 (250), roady raised it up to 8k after his opponent had made up the big blind before seeing cordero re-raise to 16k. A slight pause and it was a race! AcKc v QQ. A meaningless flop of 8s9s8d kept roady ahead before the K on the turn must have had cordero punching the air at the thought of a significant chip lead over his opponent.

However it was not to be as a drama queen landed on the river to hand victory to roady.

Well done to him and all the other previous winners who remain on course to play for the amazing prize of one million dollars in just a couple of months time.
