Day 2 of the £2,500 Pot Limit Hold'em/Omaha event at the WSOPE finished with a final table of just five players. A few minutes before midnight, and after the elimination of Chris Bjorn in 6th place, players and organisers agreed to come back again today at 2pm to conclude the tournament. It looks like a mouth watering final too! With Men "The Master" Nguyen, Richard Gryko and Mats Gavatin all well positioned.
The final nine could've graced any final table in the world. Howard Lederer, Ian Frazer and Hoyt Corkins all went deep here. Lederer's finish in 9th was especially remarkable given his very small stack from Day 1. Further down the field John Kabbaj couldn't quite manage a money finish, while Vitaly Lunkin crept into the cash.
Five still remain for the final which starts later today but Day 2 was all about Swedish pro' Mats Gavatin and Men "The Master" Nguyen. Gavatin, who had a great WSOP in Las Vegas earlier this year with four cash finishes to his name, looks in outstanding form once again and tops the chip counts ahead of popular British player Richard Gryko. Nguyen, in third place, has gone through a six year bracelet dry spell. His last WSOP success came in 2003 in the $ 1,500 Ace to Five Triple Draw Lowball tournament. The Master will be hungry to add a WSOPE title to his extensive list of results.
The remaining five players and their chip counts look like this:
Mats Gavatin - 448000
Richard Gryko - 329000
Men Nguyen - 268000
Erik Cajelais - 81000
Robin Keston - 63000
The eliminated cashing players are:
6 - £ 20,106 Chris Bjorin
7 - £ 15,302 Hoyt Corkins
8 - £ 11,732 Ian Frazer
9 - £ 9,117 Howard Lederer
10 - £ 7,643 Nikolay Evdakov
11 - £ 7,643 Dino Brivati
12 - £ 7,643 Michel Abecassis
13 - £ 6,521 Allie Prescott
14 - £ 6,521 Tristan Clémençon
15 - £ 6,521 Harri Suni
16 - £ 5,660 Brian Johnson
