I made some minor tweeks to my game and started to really utilise the power of position, which basically meant I was going mental on the button and taking advantage of the weak-passive players at the table and for the most part it worked well.
Well that's another 10k hands played at the micros and this time it went more to plan with me winning by a decent rate although it's all relative of course.
In total I played 10,074 hands of 6-max playing just four tables at once and beat the game for 9.58BB/100 which is pretty nice. The bb/100 was taken from Holdem Manager so I'm not sure if it is different from the ptbb/100 that some people quote.
I made some minor tweeks to my game and started to really utilise the power of position, which basically meant I was going mental on the button and taking advantage of the weak-passive players at the table and for the most part it worked well.
I played 23.3% of my hands, raised preflop 20.4% and 3-bet 9.1%. This lead to me going to showdown 26.1% of the time and winning 54.8% of showdowns. I'm pretty happy with my stats, even more so if I take into account I actually ran nearly $32 under EV in all-in pots, which when buying in for $5 is quite a lot over 10k hands.
Playing 10k hands for the second time has made me see cash as a real grind. God knows how some people such as Clarkatroid etc play 100k hands in a month, I guess the money is more than welcome but I'd want to hang myself after half of that.
The problem with cash games is that they can quickly become boring due to the fact most people at the table are 100bb deep and the blinds never go up so there is no sense of urgency when it comes to playing a hand. I'm not one of those people who sit and wait for Aces of Kings but I never get excited about a hand like I do when my stack is quickly diminishing and I need to find a spot to shove all-in to keep alive.
I think maybe if the money I played for was more substantial than I'd probably enjoy cash games more but it's difficult to motivate yourself to play when you are looking at winning $15 from a session. I guess that's why a lot of people gravitate towards tournaments and the chance of winning 50x your initial investment.
My problem is I am not really bankrolled for anything of decent value so I'll either have to keep grinding cash games until I have a semi-decent bankroll, sufficient to play $5 and above games or see if anyone wants to stake me for some 45 man or MTTs somewhere. Whatever I do I'll jot it down here for you guys to read.
I think I'll leave it there for now. As always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables!
