A Slave To Variance

I will be glad to see April leave us as it has been a very rocky and frustrating time indeed. In one of my earlier posts I mentioned that sometimes no matter how perfectly you play poker you can still come off a loser due to the variance monster lurking at the tables! Well this month I was a real slave to variance.
Although I've played far from perfect poker this month I have, in my opinion, played better than most of my opponents yet I've still only broken even for the month. I started with a bankroll of around $250 and at one point I managed to build up close to $330 before dropping all the way down to $200 and now back to almost where I started at $250! Admittedly I did blow $50 bluffing, badly may I add, at NL50 Heads-up after consuming some dodgy white cider from the local shop but apart from that I've played quite solid poker.
Whenever I had a pair it seemed someone had an over pair, if I had a straight then someone made a higher straight and every time I raised preflop with big Aces like AK and AQ I never hit the flop and always had to let go of my hand when I met resistance. The hand below was the icing on the cake and basically summed up April as a whole! I run badly!
On the life front everything is fine and dandy really. Although I've not found a job I do have my fingers in a few pies and things are looking very positive right now and I'm excited about what could happen in the coming months, of course as soon as I am able to I'll talk about it on here I will. Mrs P and I are disappearing to Southport for the weekend too as my mate has a pub down there and has offered to come pick us up and supply us with food and beers as we're skint so that should be fun. I think Mrs P and I need a mini break as we've been stressed to the back teeth with all the Pud Jr fiasco, me losing my job and the fact Step Pud is having his "terrible twos" 6 months earlier than expected!
Right, I'm off to shave my hair as a sacrifice to the Poker Gods (amen) and hopefully I'll run hotter than the sun for the month of May! As always, thanks for reading and best of luck at the tables!

Another quality post Pud.
Shame about April, we all have bad months though, now you have got it out of the way you can put it behind you, and watch that roll rise upwards!
GL mate, you of all people deserve it.
