DO you know what the deadly sins of poker are?
You may not have known poker has any deadly sin. But it does.
The Seven Deadly Sins are: Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, Pride.
Just a typical poker game, then.
A certain Dennis Waterman writes: "Our Deadly Sins" are:

1) Poor self-control; 2) Denying reality; 3) Impatience; 4) Focusing on ourselves, not the other players; 5) Yielding to our emotions; 6) Poor concentration; 7) Rigidity; 8) Educating the opposition; 9) Aching to get even; 10) Blaming bad luck.
Ten. Dennis Waterman should add greed to the list. Seven sins have been enough for the rest of humanity for eons; ten smacks avarice, lust and pride.
Mr Waterman takes his list from The Psychology of Poker by Alan N. Schoonmaker, a book.
To coutner the sins, there are the virtues. Seven? No. This is poker. There are 12.
Under the subtitle called "Do You Have 'The Right Stuff'?" we see:
1) Winners always demand an edge; 2) Winners are obsessed with winning; 3) Winners have extreme self-control; 4) Winners are brutally realistic; 5) Winners concentrate intently; 6) Winners think visibly; 7) Winners admit mistakes quickly; 8) Winners learn from their mistakes; 9) Winners accept responsibility; 10) Winners depersonalize conflicts; 11) Winners adjust to changes; 12) Winners are selectively aggressive.
Winners get lucky. Winners are greedy and want more. Winners deny reality and go for the kill.
Winners do not adjust to change but stick to their own game.
Winners always have the last word. Winner make lists. Winners screw up lists and throw them away. Winners put list in book and sell it for a recommended retail price on Amazon.
Losers buy the book and try to work out their opponent's psyche.
Winners keep their money and look on as the loser scurries through a book trying to work out which type of player he is up against.
Winners play online and take advantage of a bonus...
