TO the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino, Las Vegas, for the USA Rock Paper Scissors League's big hand-off (that right?).

Indeed, dear readers, what else to do when in Vegas between WSOP games then keep a supple wrist.

The main event is in Nevada from June 21 to 22, but it is never to early to get in shape.

The SouthEast Missourian newspaper looks at local hero JoDan Russom whose ability to out-guess his opponents has earned him a shot at the big one.

And it's a worthwhile enterprise. The 300 finalists will be competing for $50,000. That's not too shabby.

And then there's the right to play against challengers from Canada, Guam, Hong Kong, Ireland and Malaysia for the International Rock Paper Scissors Federation world title.

It's a great title to have in your locker, and winning will also given you a terrific anecdote to wow your friends with.

But who to win? You want tips. We've got tips.

Russom offers a few tips for budding Rockers, Papers and Scissorists, revealing that the game is "only luck".

His typical strategy is to go into a match with one of the three hand signals in mind. This is the inside track. After the first throw he acts off instincts.

According to Russom, all that really matters is three variables: rock crushes scissors, paper covers rock and scissors cut paper.

And if that's not too revealing, and gets Russom expelled from the sport's governing body, more tips keep coming.

Kevin McDonald, who lost to Russom tells us: "It's the ultimate conflict resolution. We've been playing since we were probably four years old, from shotgun in a car to anything. It's how you determine who gets what."

Some news there for Americans who usually get what they want by carrying a gun and trying to out spend their opponents.

Over to you, America...
