Already a winner over hurdles in France, where he also finished runner-up in a Grade 1, Indian Daudaie made his debut for Champion NH Trainer Paul Nicholls in the JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial at Cheltenham on Saturday and shaped with plenty of promise as he finished third behind the Steve Gollings-trained Local Hero.

Indian Daudaie put in a fluent round of jumping and, after getting a little outpaced at the bottom of the hill, he responded well and kept finding under Harry Skelton to eventually be beaten just 4¾ lengths.

Indian Daudaie picked up just shy of £2,500 for his efforts, but hopefully Saturday was just a springboard to something better, with Paul reporting beforehand that he expected the gelding to improve for the run.
