Indian Daudaie makes his debut for the Club in a Cheltenham Grade 2
"Paul reports that Indian Daudaie worked very nicely on Thursday morning on the uphill top gallop and bottom speed gallop over five furlongs."
One of the Timeform Betfair Racing Club's French recruits, Indian Daudaie, is set to make his debut for Champion NH Trainer Paul Nicholls in the JCB Triumph Hurdle Trial at Cheltenham on Saturday...
Indian Daudaie was originally in training with Yannick Fouin in France, racing once on the Flat before having his attention switched to hurdling. Highly progressive over timber, Indian Daudaie won his second start at Auteuil and showed another chunk of improvement when fast-tracked to Grade 1 company on his third and final start for Fouin, when finishing fifteen lengths second of ten finishers behind Tanais du Chenet in the Prix Cambaceres, a race won in 2008 by a certain Long Run.
Paul said earlier in the month in his column here on Betting.Betfair that Indian Daudaie has been doing everything asked of him at home (watch a video of him in action here), and it would be something of a disappointment were Indian Daudaie unable to make some sort of impact on Saturday, bearing in mind the useful form he showed in France.
Paul reports that Indian Daudaie worked very nicely on Thursday morning on the uphill top gallop and bottom speed gallop over five furlongs. He was also popped over a few hurdles to keep his jumping sharp.
According to Paul, he's a different sort to the rest of the juvenile hurdlers that the yard has sent out so far this season, being more of a galloping, staying type than such as the speedy Brampour, and as his blood was tested earlier in the week there shouldn't be any problems on that score.
As with most of the yard's runners, he expects him to improve for this first run, but it shows how much Paul thinks of Indian Daudaie to enter him into a Grade 2 race for his first run. Harry Skelton will take the ride.
