Ferdy Murphy: No stranger to big-priced Festival winners
Today's Timeform Race Angle is at Cheltenham...
17:15 Cheltenham - 2m Grand Annual Chase (Handicap)
It looks long odds on that today's getting out stakes, the Grand Annual at 17:15, is going to be a strongly-run affair in which patient tactics could well prove advantageous. That scenario is likely to play to the strengths several towards the head of the market, including Oh Crick and I'msingingtheblues, but there's one at a considerably bigger price who should be suited by coming off a strong place, and that's the Ferdy Murphy-trained Beggars Cap. It's obviously a fairly speculative selection, and two previous non-completions in the race doesn't exactly inspire confidence, but in the 2009 renewal (off today's mark of 130) he was creeping into contention when unseating three out, while he went amiss early in last year's race. Beggars Cap shaped as if retaining his ability returning from nearly a year on the sidelines at Doncaster and he looks a lively outsider at the foot of the weights today, with Sam Twiston-Davies taking off 3 lbs.
