Today's bet of the day lines up in the 17:10 at Southwell
"Three of Jonnie Skull’s best ever performances have been achieved at today’s course and over today’s distance, which augurs well for another big run this afternoon."
Timeform's Free Form Site once again brings you another three tips for Tuesday.
After leaving the form of his fencing debut well behind when second to an unexposed horse at Southwell last time, fluent jumper Pliny (16:00) goes into the novice chase at Exeter still open to improvement. The Newbury race Pliny contested was full of promising horses and the form is working out very well, so it's encouraging that he has since built upon that effort significantly. The race he runs in today might mean that he is meeting several of his rivals worse off at the weights than he would be if this were a handicap, but many have had enough chances already over fences and it could transpire that Pliny is better than we have seen so far.
The following novice hurdle is set to feature Glitzy d'Ocala (16:30), who had a difficult task against the improving Tornado Bob on his hurdling debut at Leicester last time, eventually beaten nine lengths into third. Although he could not match the winner's pace there, he remains open to further improvement as he steps up in trip and gets the chance to win his first race over obstacles in what looks an uncompetitive event. Stolen Thunder is the one most likely to give Glitzy d'Ocala a race, but it's somewhat disconcerting that his best performance remains his debut effort, and he did well to get within 15 lengths of Cucumber Run at Hereford last time.
The final selection comes in the form of Jonnie Skull (17:10), who has the opportunity to confirm that he's well-handicapped in the concluding seven furlong handicap at Southwell. On his first start for Phil McEntee last time, Jonnie Skull showed that he retains ability when finishing a staying-on third over six furlongs, suggesting that the step up to his optimum distance would not be far away. Three of Jonnie Skull's best ever performances have been achieved at today's course and over today's distance, which augurs well for another big run this afternoon.
