Jessica Wigmo is a confident selection at Kempton today.
"The opening race at Kempton is as weak as they come and Jessica Wigmo (17:10) should be up to defying this lowly mark after returning to form when second last month"
There are two selections from Southwell on Thursday and a best bet from Kempton......
Rosewood Lad (14:50) was having just his second start at two miles when improving to get off the mark at Wolverhampton last week, so, still unexposed at the trip and already proven on fibresand, he looks to have strong claims of following up under a penalty at Southwell this afternoon. Rosewood Lad's main rivals, Short Supply and Mush Mir, also come into this on the back of wins, but neither have proven their stamina for this sort of test and Rosewood Lad ticks all the right boxes.
Later on the Southwell card, it's worth supporting Irish raider Intyre Trail (16:20) to follow up his impressive success on his fibresand debut last month. A 6 lb rise for that will unlikely prove much of a stumbling block, nor should the drop back to seven furlongs given the ease in which he travelled, looking a natural on the surface, and, still with few miles on the clock, he's the type to progress round here.
The opening race at Kempton is as weak as they come and Jessica Wigmo (17:10) should be up to defying this lowly mark after returning to form when second last month. She's won in a higher grade than this in the past and if she's able to run like she did over course and distance on her latest start, travelling well and only narrowly denied by Jonny Ebeneezer, then she should gain her first win since early-2009.
