The fact that Carbon Print is a six-year-old maiden tells you that he's not one to be going overboard about, particularly as today's race at Wolverhampton (15:00) is a hands and heels event for apprentices which may well be falsely run. All that said, he looks worth chancing bearing in mind the glimmer of promise he gave when a smooth-travelling fourth at Kempton two weeks ago on his first Flat start for James Evans. There are enough doubts about the majority of his rivals to make Carbon Print worthy of a small interest at [6.0], with today's step back to a mile and three quarters expected to suit.

Conditions at Lingfield are going to be pretty testing, and one there today who should have no trouble with that is Canshebemine in the handicap hurdle at 15:40. Canshebemine landed a gamble on heavy ground in a selling handicap at Newton Abbot in March, and ran well on both her subsequent starts despite seeming unsuited by much firmer conditions on the second occasion. Her fitness has to be taken on trust returning from the best part of ten months off, but [4.4] looks fair enough even taking that into account.

The concluding handicap hurdle at Lingfield (16:45) isn't necessarily chock-full of likely improvers, but there is a bit of potential in the field, chiefly in the shape of handicap debutant Top Smart. Top Smart progressed on each of his three outings in novice hurdles, running his best race when second in a soft-ground event at Folkestone back in November. His run that day suggested that a step up to today's trip would suit, and if that's the case he can more than likely prove an opening mark of 101 on the fair side.
