Rebecca Curts: Run Carronhills at Warwick

"Carronhills went well for a long way against the likes of Noland and What A Friend last week.."

Not even the brilliant David Evans and Memphis Man could stop a frustrating day on Sam Randall's watch yesterday. Here's hoping these three selections can get us back on the up ahead of a big weekend..

South Molton trainer Nick Williams had two winners from two representatives at Ludlow on Wednesday and can continue his good run this afternoon. He has three runners at Sandown all with solid chances, with Clouseau (14:20) arguably the pick in the two-mile handicap chase. Clouseau wasted no time getting off the mark over fences at Taunton in November and ran a blinder when chasing home the thriving Cadoudalas on his handicap debut at Hereford next time, finishing placed despite making a bad mistake at the seventh. Clouseau is open to further progress, particularly as his jumping improves.

The well-regarded Carronhills (15:50) can gain a first success for Rebecca Curtis at Warwick. Formerly a useful hunter chaser in Ireland, there was plenty to like about Carronhills' reappearance from a long absence in the Aon Chase last week, going well for a long way against the likes of Noland and What A Friend and not given a hard time once his chance had gone. Today's assignment looks much easier, and, reportedly set for a crack against Imperial Commander and company if all goes well today, Carronhills can book his Cheltenham ticket.

Straboe (20:25), not for the first time, comfortably landed a gamble at Wolverhampton last week, and the five-year-old can follow-up back at Dunstall Park this evening. Stuart Williams' charge finished well to wear down another well-handicapped one in We'll Deal Again and a 4 lb rise for that looks fair. He's defied a poor draw to win here before, so stall 11 tonight shouldn't be deemed too much of a negative.
