Hopefully, Even Bolder will be picking up the pieces late on at Lingfield today

He has only five opponents, and four of them are front runners. If this goes as expected, Even Bolder will be there to pick up the pieces late on, as happened for his last win around this time last year over the same course and distance, off just a 1 lb lower mark than he has today.

Three races earlier at Lingfield (14:10) is the final of the sprint series, involving several qualifier winners, but the one that stands out is Arctic Lynx. Successful in Round 3 of the series five weeks ago, with something extra up his sleeve that day, Arctic Lynx has a progressive profile that none of his rivals can match, and an ideal draw in 2 is the icing on the cake.

I'd be disappointed and in need of a hug if one or both of those two at Lingfield don't win, but I'd be staggered if Yurok doesn't win the 14:45 at Newcastle. Yes, he's already trading at odds on, marginally so, but he should be much shorter still given his potential, coupled with the fact that his main market rival Battle Group looks to have lost it temperamentally. Yurok will relish this stiffest test of stamina he's faced and looks as close to a certainty as there is in racing.
