I'm going back to my roots for today's Placepot bid at Musselburgh.

13:50 - It'd be no surprise if Classical Mist was to step up on the form he showed in bumpers for James Hetherton now with David O'Meara, but the bottom line is that Blenheim Brook has shown near-useful form in finishing runner-up in handicaps on his last two starts and he should have no problem shouldering a penalty back in novices. He's a banker.

14:20 - Festival King doesn't appear to offer outstanding value in the win market, but he's been reliable over fences so far this season and will surely make the first three if able to show a similar level of form returned to hurdles. Although he failed to sparkle in novices, Fairynuff was fairly useful in bumpers and a return to anything like that sort of level on his handicap bow, over a trip that's likely to suit in time, will be good enough to see him place.

14:50 - Hunters are normally treacherous Placepot territory, so when the horse with the best form has one of the more experienced riders up it is probably wise to take notice. Zemsky may not be the most assured of jumpers, but he was fairly useful at his best for Nicky Henderson and has been having a successful time of it in Irish points since returning to former connections.

15:20 - Most of these juveniles have been handed a stiff task on what they've achieved so far, but Antonella appeals as having more room for improvement than most, her first of two runs in sellers suggesting she's got a better performance in her. Miereveld was comfortably beaten in a similar event at Doncaster last time, but that race appeals as strong form and he has room to do better on his Flat form, acknowledging his best efforts have come on fibresand.

15:50 - Dontpaytheferryman has been going great guns on the fibresand this winter and is sure to prove popular, but back on turf we're going to take him on with Pokfulham and Viva Colonia. Both ran in the same race here ten days ago, Pokfulham improving to finish second to Santa's Son and Viva Colonia travelling menacingly for a long way before weakening into fifth. This shorter trip should certainly suit Viva Colonia and we're hoping for something of an upset.

16:20 - Likely favourite Locked Inthepocket's best efforts have all come when fresh, so we're going to go for a more left-field approach again. Quinder Spring has won over this trip this season, even though further may suit him ideally, and is well handicapped enough to think he can make the first two. Conversely, this trip may be as far as Chapolimoss wants, but he's very much unexposed and has improvement in him should he settle better than has sometimes been the case.
