Today's placepot attempt is at Lingfield
"No need to dwell on race three, Apache Glory caught the eye in no uncertain terms on her debut and should have little problem improving past Tagansky in a very weak maiden"
The chances are there'll be a big payout at Lingfield today, and 24 lines is a bare minimum.
13:20 - The opener provides a really tough start to the day, with loads of out of form horses to choose from, so it's just a case of taking a chance with a couple. Pha Mai Blue hasn't shown much on either start this year but he might just be perked up by a drop to the lowest grade handicap he's ever contested, while Cwmni is on a fair mark and made a winning return to action at this course exactly a year ago.
13:50 - In the claimer, neither Aflaam nor Grand Vizier have particularly likeable profiles, but at least they both have some recent form to their name, which is going to count for plenty in such a poor race.
14:20 - No need to dwell on race three. Apache Glory caught the eye in no uncertain terms on her debut and should have little problem improving past Tagansky in a very weak maiden.
14:55 - These sprint series races have been pot luck so far, getting a clear run being the name of the game, so there's no harm in having three in this leg to make sure we get through. Pelmanism is the obvious first choice, a progressive sprinter pitched in against a bunch of exposed ones, but from there it's much tougher. Both Loyal Royal and Speak The Truth shaped as if still in top form while meeting trouble in last week's qualifier, and that pair should be able to make more of an impact today.
15:25 - Plenty in the penultimate leg appeal as well handicapped, not least Taaresh who won very easily at Kempton last week. But placepot's are all about solid horses and there have been very few on the all-weather this winter more reliable than either Lovers Causeway and Mighty Clarets, the former two from two at Lingfield.
15:55 - Unfortunately, even if we have scraped through to this point, it's a nerve-jangling banker in the last leg having used up lines on some of the trickier races. Quite simply, if Sophia's Number One continues her ongoing progress she'll definitely make the three, and the step up to this trip promises to suit her.
