14:10 - We start with a novice hurdle and, in order to try and ensure progression, we shall go with the two Timeform top-rated. Raya Star confirmed himself a nice prospect with a victory at Doncaster last time and, with the Alan King stable in good form, he can be expected to run well despite his penalty. Shuil Royale was perhaps a shade disappointing when only third after sent off as favourite on his hurdling debut, but the promise of his two bumper victories should not be forgotten and he is expected to shape better for the experience here.

14:40 - A potentially awkward novice handicap chase here but in order to keep the lines down we will bank on Psi. The selection travelled well for a long way when runner-up in a similar event last time and races off the same mark here, and the winner of that Wincanton race was victorious again at the weekend.

15:15 - This looks a decent race with some progressive sorts and we will take a gamble and oppose the likely favourite, Henry King. Romulus d'Artaix is fancied to reverse Taunton form with Henry King, as Alan King's runner was unsuited by the emphasis on speed that day and should appreciate this step back up in trip. Lion On The Prowl confirmed the promise of his bumper outings when winning an ordinary novice at Uttoxeter in May and, although absent since and stepped up markedly in trip, his flat-oriented pedigree is not short of stamina and he remains open to further improvement.

15:50 - The most competitive race of the day and we would be foolish to gamble too much here, so we will take two against the field. Pere Blanc has won two his last two races easily and although this is a tougher assignment, he is two from three at the track and he remains open to further progress. Sophies Trophy carries top-weight and has also been set some tough tasks this season. However, a reproduction of his second to Mille Chief in January would surely see him involved today and as long as his fall last time out has not dented his confidence, he could run well now dropped in grade.

16:25 - An eight-runner handicap chase, so two selections should ensure that we hit the places. Rileyev has been in great form of late winning three of his last four starts and still seems like he may have more to give. However this will be Rileyev's fifth outing in four weeks and so we will also take Clouseau.

17:00 - Although it's tempting to select half the field to ensure a result here, we will gamble and go all-in on the Philip Hobbs-trained Rare Symphony, who showed improved form when switched to handicaps last time. Beaten only ½ length and pulling well clear of the remainder in the process, she should run well here from the bottom of the weights if over those exertions.
